School Registration

The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) is pleased to offer registration for compulsory* school aged children.  

*Compulsory Attendance Law of the Virgin Islands requires all children between the ages of 5 through 18 must enroll in an educational instruction program.  An instructional program includes public, private or parochial school, as well as homeschooling. 

The Virgin Islands Department of Education allows enrollment all year long for students transferring from a nonpublic school, off-island, as well as homeschooling.

 

This process is for : 

1.     ALL first-time students that have never registered as a student at VIDE
2.    Students previously enrolled at VIDE and withdrew

PLEASE NOTE:
  • Public School Registration is for students who are new or returning to the USVI public school system.
  • Kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before December 31 of the year entering school.
  • Granny Pre-K students must be 4 years old by December 31 of the year entering school (St. Croix District)
  • Sugar Apple Pre-K students must be 4 years old by December 31 of the year entering school (St. Thomas/St. John District)
  • Student(s) must be present and accompanied by biological parent or legal guardian.
  • Transfer Request is for students currently enrolled in the USVI public school system.

 

Required Documents (MUST Be Original):

  • Original Certification of Birth
  • Social Security Card (St. Croix District)
  • Court Appointed Adoption or Guardianship Affidavit or Power of Attorney (if applicable)
  • Valid Official Government Issued Photo ID of the Parent or Guardian registering student (ex: driver’s license, passport)
  • School Records:
    • Kindergarten thru 8th Grade - Most Recent/Final Report Card
    • 9th Grade thru 12th Grade - Official Transcript
    • Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is required for students receiving Special Education Services

    • 504 Plan is required for students receiving support and accommodation for a disability

  • V.I. Immunization Card or Certified Exemption Letter from the Department of Health for applicable School Year
  • Health Clearance or Exemption form must be obtained from one of the Department of Health Clinics for applicable school year:
    • Charles Harwood Health Clinic Only (St. Croix)
    • East End Clinic, Maternal and Child Health (MCH) (St. Thomas)
    • Myrah Keating Clinic (St. John)
  • Universal Child Health Record (Pre-K only)
  • Proof of  Physical Address /Residency in the US Virgin Islands:
    • Homeowners:
      • Signed Closing Statement, Deed, Property Tax Receipt OR
      • Current WAPA Bill, license government issued document or receipt showing name and current physical address of parent/guardian.
    • Renters:
      • Current Lease Agreement signed by the Landlord and Tenant AND
      • Current WAPA Bill, license government issued document or receipt showing name and current physical address of parent/guardian is still required when the lease includes utilities ; or rent receipt, if utilities are not included.
    • Renters without Rent Receipt or Lease Agreement: 
      • Notarized Landlord Affidavit and Proof of Address from the Owner of the Property (or the person authorized to lease the property on behalf of the owner) AND
      • Current WAPA Bill, license government issued document or receipt showing name and current physical address of Landlord.
    • Living with Family or Friends:
      • Notarized Residency Affidavit and Proof of Address from the Owner of the property or tenant is required when the parent/guardian and student reside with a family member or friend AND
      • Current WAPA Bill, license government issued document or receipt showing name and current physical address of family or friend.
         
PLEASE NOTE:
  • Please visit or contact the Student Services Registration Division if you have  any issues regarding the new enrollment process (Enrollment Express).
  • Parents with a child(ren) already enrolled may not need to create a new Parent Portal account.
  • The transfer and transcript request forms are used ONLY when schools are not in session.
  • When schools are in session, transfers and transcript requests begins/are done at the schools.
